Some may remember a few months ago when MMA fighter ‘war machine’ beat the shit out of his exgirlfriend Christy Mack, breaking her rib, puncturing her liver, and breaking her teeth among other injuries. Luckily she managed to escape while he went looking for a sharper knife to kill her with (!!!!!!!)
So now her has attempted suicide while being held in lockup. He wrote a three page suicide note, in which he only takes partial responsibility for ‘Christy getting hurt’, and was found gasping for air. He is now in isolation.
I am beyond angry this morning so I’ll leave you with this break down HERE
Good for you girl! On behalf of all those who can’t 👏👏
“Columbia University senior Emma Sulkowicz has taken her experience attending college with her rapist and turned it into her senior thesis project. “It’s endurance performance art piece,” Sulkowicz told the Columbia Daily Spectator about the endeavor, for which she will carry her mattress around to every one of her classes until her rapist is either expelled or chooses to leave the school.”
Another absolutely horrific assault on a woman. I’m sure many of you have heard by now about the brutally violent attack on Christy Mack by her ex boyfriend MMA fighter Jon ‘war machine’ Koppenhaver, from multiple sources including her own account of the abuse posted on twitter. By all accounts he tried to kill her. Well, more horrific details have emerged on the investigation.
“there is nothing in the report that contradicts Mack’s claim that Koppenhaver arrived at her house unannounced and held her hostage while he broke 18 bones in her face with his fists and sawed off her hair with a dull knife. There is nothing that contradicts her claim that she went in and out of consciousness while Koppenhaver looked through her social media profiles on her phone and punched or kicked her every time he found a post he didn’t like. There is nothing that contradicts her claim that she might be dead if she hadn’t escaped to her backyard while Koppenhaver looked for a sharper knife with which to kill her. And there is nothing — absolutely nothing — in the report that could suggest that Mack is at all responsible for the unspeakably horrifying assault she suffered at the hands of a domestic abuser.”
No one does anything to deserve such a beating. Such brutalization. And she is not alone. I’m at a loss for words…
The result is not what you’d think. Her sign at the end reads “help me, I do not know if I can wait until tomorrow”
The loss of her smile…like putting out a beacon of light. So powerful.

Tumblr user Amy Rebecca has decided to start microblogging the abuse she receives on tumblr. Thank you so much Amy for bravely highlighting some of the struggles faced by folks in the trans community.
Her shares are horrible and heartbreaking, but her responses are just amazing! Absolutely a strong inspiration!
NO AMOUNT OF MARKETING MAKES FACTORY FARMING ACCEPTABLE! *TW* Factory Farms
What I really like about this video is it’s accessibility. There are many ways to walk this earth, but there is no reason, no justification for the mass abuse and slaughter of thousands of innocent, loving, caring animals who experience little to no quality of life. Whether or not you eat meat, factory farming is a disgusting, horrific practice that needs to and CAN be stopped! We have the power to make choices that effect others!
And to speak to her point about how WE are key to maintaining factory farming as it is, just look at how animals are marketed, first of all it’s ‘meat’, not ‘animal’ or ‘flesh’, and we don’t say ‘I’m picking up some pig for sunday breakfast’ we buy pork, or beef, or poultry.
I briefly checked out the website that posted the video, and from what I can see it seems pretty accessible and resourceful, and focus’ specifically on the issue of factory farming.
This is an interesting video I came across today showing the same scenario twice, only in one the man is abusing the woman, and in the other the woman is abusing the man. I am deeply saddened by the reactions. Turning a blind eye, while terrible, is what I expected to see. But laughing??
The statistic at the end of the video is from this source. While abuse of men is incredibly underreported and underacknowledged, I have a hard time believing the statistic that 40% of those suffering from domestic abuse are men. Although, if the methods of research to reach this number were actually inclusive and looked at all forms of abuse (not just physical, but emotional, spiritual, mental, financial, etc) I could see this number being closer to accurate. Men DO experience violence and abuse in many forms and I feel we all should, and I personally try, to serve as an ally to anyone and in any situation where space can be made for healing. Every survivor deserves for their voice to be heard.
That said, with example, after example of systemic, public, private, personal abuses of womyn for control and power, and especially after a week like the one we have just had with the mass shooting in Isla Vista DIRECTLY FUELED BY MISOGYNST HATE, and based out of my lived experiences and those of the people I’ve encountered, I have to say that the above statistic isn’t sitting quite well with me…http://www.trueactivist.com/this-is-what-happens-when-the-public-sees-a-woman-abusing-a-man/
WHAT THE EVER LOVING FUCK!
I am honestly in tears watching fellow students step in and literally COVER FELLOW PROTESTERS WITH THEIR OWN BODIES after they’ve been doused in pepper spray and are being physically dragged away from each other. While another officer actually squats down to get a better angle to douse the faces of students trying to cover themselves with their shoulders and sleeves (remember, all the students have linked arms, they are essentially defenseless to begin with…)
What were they protesting, you ask? Corporatism and STATE VIOLENCE.
Maybe you suffer emotionally because you feel guilt and regret over abusing your position of power and authority to unnecessarily (and unlawfully) physically harm a group of students?? Maybe you need to deal with the consequences of the choice YOU have made!

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME
*edit** while I understand that some have opposing viewpoints on this situation and that this is the result of a situation escalating, and that by enclosing the police (who were enclosed around protesters they’d detained) LEGALLY certain force was warranted (although clearly not to this degree or this officer wouldn’t have been discharged from his position after 8 months paid leave during the investigation).
Here’s a novel idea, what if not all laws were just? What if ‘doing your job’ and upholding the law was actually inflicting pain and further oppression onto your community? These videos are startling, but this is where we are headed. The people will rise up and be heard!
“Article 2 of the Convention states that “genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
The letter writers assert that at least three actions on the part of Canadian governments constitute genocide under those rules.
1. Sir John A. MacDonald’s policy of deliberately starving First Nations people to make way for settlers in the Canadian west.
2. The residential school system and especially the decision of Department of Indian Affairs chief Duncan Campbell Scott not to address rampant tuberculosis among students.
3. The forcible removal of aboriginal children from their homes for the purpose of adoption by white families, a practice known as the “Sixties Scoop.” Estimates put the number of children removed between the 1960s and the mid 1980s at around 20,000.”

“Our society is clearly failing young women. That young men are sufficiently comfortable in their behaviour that they think nothing of taping and distributing their crimes shows just how little society values young women.
But we are also failing young men because we keep permitting this cycle to repeat. Perhaps these boys act like they did nothing wrong because they have absorbed the convoluted messages of a culture that reassures them that they haven’t.”
